Cutting, grinding, tumbling, polishing and engraving or “lapidary” is the art of shaping stone, minerals and gems into decorative items via those techniques. Lapidary work dates back to the Stone Age, the earliest examples of which are seen in the form of drilled stone and rock.  Today beautifully sculpted and polished specimens are available in many sizes and forms.
