Tim Shaw

Australian glass artist Tim Shaw has three degrees in glassblowing. After attaining his BA, with honors, from North Staffordshire Polytechnic in the UK in 1983, he went on to study at the avant-garde Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam where he earned a State Diploma in 1985. His studies in Amsterdam allowed him to experiment and proved to be influential in the development of his distinctive style.

His creative talent was recognized by his peers, and he was invited to undertake a MA at the prestigious Royal College of Art in London. He completed the degree in 1988 and credits the experience with the further refinement of his glassmaking skills and the opportunity to push the boundaries of his artistic expression.

Shaw has resided in Australia since 1999 and owns and operates his own hotglass workshop, one of the few independent hotglass studios in South Australia.
